Android application to connect car owners with their electric vehicles

In collaboration with our partner we helped deliver a new Android application focused on connecting car owners with their vehicles. The application is focused on car models from the ID series. For the vehicle owner, the application offers connectivity to the vehicle and a single point of contact with services connected to the vehicle.

Digging Deeper

  • Working in a team of 9 developers and 1 tester using SAFe setup
  • Set up big cycles of 6 sprints that are used for defining long-term goals across the entire section (multiple backends and frontends)
  • One sprint is dedicated to catch up on backlog and innovation
  • Mobile application development focused on the Android platform
  • Final fine tuning before its readiness for production deployment
  • Caching data from the backend to make the app work in a limited mode with slow or no internet connection
  • Bug fixing, solving issues with memory leaks
  • Integration with other applications from the automotive group
  • Development of functionalities – map searching engine, animations for different charging modes, automatic and manual car waking up after loss of contact, etc.
  • Implementation of an interface that will allow developers from other teams to contribute additional screens to the application
  • Developing new widgets for users (battery or tank status on home screen etc.)
  • Managed to increase Android application rating from 2.0 to 3.6 (even up to 4.0 in Germany)
